The language he uses is telling, that someone from the network will "take them in the back" and say you can't go after Hillary too much. He's revealing more than he realizes.

We all knew that the pundits (never EVER call these idiots journalists) are told by their bosses what to say on the air.

Obviously he was trying to make another point, but I'm sure he's kicking himself now that he realizes what he admitted. I'll bet his bosses at MSNBC are none too happy about it either. Makes you wonder what else they put pressure on him to say.
